I have lived at the Halifax for just under a year. This past month I actually moved into a bigger unit and the transfer process was very easy. I worked with Ernie in the leasing office on my initial lease and my transfer. He has always been so kind to me and very helpful!

I also can’t say enough about the maintenance team here. Hector the maintenance supervisor takes a lot of pride in this property and his team and it shows. There are a lot of kids and pets living here, which is something that can make a complex really dirty at times. You can tell Hector and his team work really hard to make sure that isn’t the case here. Everything is always very clean and inviting. I love that this is a place where kids can be seen playing outside everyday!

I love living here. Me and my daughter feel safe and it has a very community vibe.

I saw other reviews where people complained about pest control issues and I can say I have NOT experienced that, but if it did become an issue I would most certainly take advantage of the weekly pest control services they offer.

Everyone has their own opinion of their experiences. For me, I feel safe, comfortable, community-based, understanding and flexible. Sometimes, we forget that the management of the property is trying their best to please their tenants but sometimes it's challenging when you have upper management with their rules/criteria. The people in the office are very nice people -human being with good intentions. In order for a community to work, we all have to contribute to it. We can't just look at ourselves and feel what is right or wrong and blame someone for something because it's out of our control. They themselves don't have much control of majority of the things that may happen to someone. Be considerate of other and the people who try their best to run the property.

In short, the community is by far the best one-with flexible payment option, an understanding management who's willing to try their best to help and keeping the property clean and safe for children to run around. That's important. Especially with the world we live in now.

I am grateful to the management team for going extra miles to lend a helping hand. <3

I lived at Halifax for six months and broke the lease early. Here’s my honest review, the good and the bad:

The Bad

1. Rent Misinformation: We were told the unit we wanted was $1,298 with utilities included, which fit within our budget. However, our first rent payment was $1,788, $500 more than agreed. The manager explained this was due to non-optional fees for services like trash pickup, even though we didn’t use them. This made it nearly impossible to afford living there. We received five-day notices every month because we were scrambling to pay. Despite being frugal and cooking from scratch, the financial strain was overwhelming. My husband was constantly stressed, which triggered his seizures, and we eventually had to go to court to say we couldn’t pay anymore. I sold everything I had and felt completely misled by Halifax.

2. Unprepared Management: My husband and I couldn’t see our apartment unit before moving in because management wasn’t ready. We were shown a model that looked completely different from the unit we moved into. The new leasing manager had only been there a week, and she seemed panicked when my husband requested a walk-through. We had already paid the deposit and sold our previous place, so we decided to move forward despite the weirdness.

2. Unit Issues: The bathroom door was installed the wrong way, forcing us to step over the toilet to close it. My husband eventually fixed it himself, which made it much better. The dishwasher was also broken and left my dishes dirty with greasy, mud-like residue. I never used it again.

3. Roaches: Despite keeping our apartment clean, sweeping daily, cleaning the fridge weekly, scrubbing toilets, and keeping surfaces uncluttered, we had roaches. Sunnyslope seems to be a roach-infested area overall.

4. Lack of Privacy: The balcony/patio was shared with all the neighbors on the floor. One neighbor was overly friendly and loud, which made it hard for me to enjoy the mountain view and read a book in peace. I often heard the neighbor yelling through the walls about work for hours, so I'd have to retreat to the bedroom for quiet.

5. Vandalism: My husband’s car was egged by a random kid in the apartment parking lot who asked him for money. My husband politely answered that he didn’t have money to give them. So the kid egged his car for that.

6. Parking: Parking was limited, and if I got home late, I often had to park far away or across the main street.

7. Payment Issues: The flex-pay system occasionally glitched. Once, we were charged $500 due to their mistake.

The Good

1. The mountain view got me into hiking.

2. Maintenance was good people.

3. Hubby got a great covered parking spot that made his commute worth it.

4. The layout of our unit was versatile, open and comfortable once we decorated.

While there were some positives, the negatives ultimately led us to break our lease early.
