This building and the staff working here is nothing short of spectacular!

The first thing you see when you enter the building is a big fountain and a big lobby and lounge, which has the vibe of a grand hotel.

The location is very convenient, just a few minutes from both the Q and the 6 lines. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to Central Park which provides a much needed break from the stressful city life.

The staff went above and beyond - they always opened the doors, were available for friendly chats, and were generally very helpful. All my repair orders were completed within a few hours. Both the move-in as well as the move-out experience have been an absolute breeze.

I left only because I had to move to the west coast. But if I come back to New York, I will definitely rent here again!

We lived in Fairmont for almost two years, and we really had the best experience as renter. the only reason we left is because we bought our own, if one day for some reason we decide to rent again, we will definitely go back to Fairmont (or other glenwood mgmt properties).
1. Price. yes, rent is expensive, but we did our home work. they are not more expensive than other similar condition places. they are actually reasonably priced in NYC market. When it is time to resign the lease, we called the mgmt office and try to negotiate, they actually keep our previous price. very pleasant surprise.
2. building staff. yes of course very few of them on some days will be on their phones instead of opening doors or helping with your package. but 99% of time, we are more than happy with the friendly staff. package room never had problem, sometimes they help bring heavy stuff, they remember every tenant and if they have package/laundry. really really happy with them.
3. moving out experience. Come on, who move out with perfect clean place and smooth wall. we didn't. we have a 5yr boy and by end of moving it is really tiring. so there are big holes (from TV wall rack) and small holes (all the hanger stuff) and stickers (from kid) on the wall. we did try our best to clean things up, but it definitely looks very different from when we move in. I was ready to lose half my deposit at least. but, after we moved out 2 weeks, a check showed up with full deposit. I CAN'T even believe that.
4. things can be better: kid room have hour restriction, which makes it hard for us to leverage. I do understand the reason behind it. Gym too. for someone like me want to workout really early or really late, it sometimes is hard. but we work around it with no problem. Window are REALLY hard to open. we like fresh air, but my wife can absolutely open or close the window, and it take me almost full strength to do that. we did work around it as well.

Again, if we ever need to rent again, we will come back here for sure.
