Poorly managed. Not sure if it’s incompetence or just another slum lord. They only enforce the parts of the lease that are profitable for themselves. Example: if you swear at staff they will fine you, but if your upstairs neighbors blast music all night long it’s not a problem. Garbage collection doesn’t happen often enough. Large debris is left for weeks impeding access to the dumpster. Theft happens so frequently that there’s emails acknowledging it constantly, but nothing being done effectively. There’s no security, cameras all seem to be bogus, the lighting in the parking lot is unsafe. I went nearly 6 months without a fire extinguisher, which I brought to attention during the initial walkthrough. When complaining to David Jackson he would often have the same excuse “This is the first I’m hearing of it.” I only started speaking with him on a recorded line or with a third party present; that was a bold faced lie, I’d have to ask him at least thrice. The building is anything but luxury, it’s all very cheap materials with decent appliances. You sneeze while breathing and the paint starts to peel, but cool for the smart washer and dryer. The floors are HARD. They boasted about being pet friendly but 99% of their landscaping relies on Round-Up and laziness. The breezeway is often disgusting, as the dumpsters are inside the building, in a very poorly ventilated room. During the summer it smells like rotten garbage, diapers, and the stuff maggots love. The building is set up for fiber optic internet though. The lack of storage and the amount of unusable space would make you think that The Rosa building was designed by bad AI. Like humiliatingly bad AI. If a human designed this space, they’ve clearly never been inside a house.

IF YOU WANT TO FEEL SAFE...DON'T LIVE HERE!!

I love my apartment, but after residing here I find it highly unlikely that I will renew my lease. My unit is on the first floor and there is a constant issue with the back gate. The back gate is accessible to a small patio area that's reserved for tenants only and it constantly has to get fixed because the homeless always tamper with it. Eko Living is AWARE of this issue.

Today, I FOUND A HOMELESS MAN OUTSIDE OF MY BEDROOM WINDOW WITH HIS ASS OUT, PANTS TO HIS ANKLES, CLEANING HIMSELF AFTER SUBMITTING A THIRD MAINTENANCE TICKET FOR THE BACK GATE TO BE FIXED THAT WAS "COMPLETED" ON 2/25/25!!!!! THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME SOME CREEPY HOMELESS MAN WAS LURKING OUTSIDE OF MY APARTMENT WINDOW! THIS HAPPENED BEFORE IN OCTOBER 2024! THE POLICE WERE CALLED BOTH TIMES!

THIS GATE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED WITH A KEY FOB LOCK INSTALLED BY A LOCKSMITH! I have been telling them this since October and yet here I am in a whole new year with the same issue and traumatized to open my window! I know they have the money to fix this! I was even told by another tenant that getting a security guard is out of the picture because it would be at the cost of the tenants which is ridiculous.

HORRIBLE experience to say the least. It definitely feels like as a business they are doing something shady. We are in the Glisan building. We have been here for 6 months, we have seen neighbors move in and out quickly and we definitely understand why. We came as a family from Southern California trying to start new here. We arrived to a filthy apartment that wasn't cleaned prior to us moving in. Our shower was clogged and the toilet had yellowing from pee that was left there for who knows how long and I had to clean it when I moved in. We moved in with children and they didn't disclose that there was a registered sex offender already on the property. Management was non-existent the whole 6 months we have been at these apartments. Ms. Brenna Fuller, the senior property manager shows up to show apartments for lease but doesn't like to show up to address resident issues. If your rent is low, you will make up for it in Ekoliving's utilities. You will be paying your rent, personal PGE Bill and Ekoliving's building utilities as well. These building utilities aren't a choice. They are shared between the residents and since they have a high resident turn over rate you can expect to be paying a large portion to makeup for their incompetence. ALL resident's on the property are penalized financially for trash that isn't supposed to be in the trash area. For example, we had residents move out and they left furniture in the trash area and we were billed for it. If you are moving in make sure you keep this in mind that EkoLiving's utilities change month to month and we haven't really seen it decrease. This company treats their resident's as disposable. For example, we signed a lease to pay $1,495 of rent a month plus $216.94 of Ekoliving building utilities and then we had to pay our own PGE bill on top of everything along with our personal family expenses. For this amount of money, we definitely are better off in California near our family and our culture with our customs. Another thing to add, when the building is occupied they don't maintain the building. They only clean it up when people are moved out and want new residents to come in. Be very careful with this company. It is definitely a place that will make you feel like you aren't at home and it feels more like you are stuck in the lease and putting up with their mess.

Also, other notes about while we lived here. The windows of the building were broken until they were shattered including one of the building entrances. The glass was left all over the inside of the building and on the floor.

We also had neighbors that no longer live here beat on the building because their family member died on site. (We witnessed him get taken on a stretcher and they also told us.) These neighbors also started moving people in outside of the lease and would threaten us from the front of the building. These neighbors would steal packages, and beat their dogs they would leave in their car all day and night while they stayed inside. Management wasn't able to help with that either. Before they left, they actually moved them right next to us because of a flood they caused that got many people to move out.

Please consider before moving in, stay safe.

I was a tenant at the Grove building for over two years. And my experience renting with EkoLiving was very pleasant. Obviously, all residential complexes have their pros and cons. Here are my impressions.
The good: The application process was efficient and easy. It took me less than a month from the time I requested an apartment to the time I was given the keys. I rented a studio with a bathroom, and the space was ample enough to have a double bed, a work area, and a small area to cook. The furniture and appliances they offer were in perfect condition when I arrived, and the place seemed quite comfortable. The cost was high for my budget, but the balcony, the washer and dryer in the unit, as well as the location of the property made up for it.
The mid: The contact with EkoLiving. There were periods when maintenance requests were made promptly, and there were times when they took a long time to respond to them. I think there were movements within the company that prevented the team from taking care of the maintenance request in a fashionable manner (for example, it took them about a month to attend to my request for a washing machine repair because they had lost the copy of my keys so they had to wait until I was home and then it was challenging to coincide).
The bad: The cleaning service of the common areas is carried out every two weeks unless there is an urgent cleaning request, so, sometimes I found traces of urine and animal excrement on the stairs and hallways (and sometimes an unpleasant surprise at the entrance to the building). In defense of EkoLiving, these situations spoke more of us as tenants, rather than a maintenance problem.
In general, this is a decent-good place to rent.

Not sure how I feel about this. I still have forever on my lease but I can't wait to see how much it increases since they don't pay anything. We got a new gym but now utilities are increasing, so meh. I haven't rented an apartment for a while, maybe this is common and I'm just not familiar with it.

Positives: good locations, nice staff (office and maintenance), responsive building manager, washer and dryer in unit, baby dishwasher, cheap rent (disclaimer, I'm from SoCal, it's cheap to me), internet included, fireplace

Negatives: no oven (does have combo microwave/convection oven/airfryer thing), shared utilities, wonky building things (uneven floors, can see behind fireplace)

For now, seems worth it. Will update when my lease is over next year.

At first, I was very lucky they worked with me and took me in. Now I am in a legal battle with them. I just gave birth 8 days ago. Was 9 months pregnant got assistance. (As i had Hyperemesis and was sick and unable to work most my pregnancy, which i was transparent and that i was seeking assistance.)They did not take the acceptance paperwork. And didn't answer to the projects email and now are having the sheriff come and take the unit. I had the assistance paid for and a month ahead and past due. Simply because management doesn't want to work with me...they will be sending back all checks...for back paid and for a month ahead in January, i believe...not only that the managers and their lawyer were laughing as they left my court case to evict me. Saying and laughing at me. "This is what happens when you don't pay rent" very unprofessional. They do not advocate for their residents and left such a god awful taste in my mouth and have put me and my newborn who is sick with jaundice (due to different blood types) at risk of being homeless anyday now. Thanks for nothing. I would not recommend this management company nor these buildings they are taking care of....I stayed in the powell building. Where homeless chased me into my unit 3 times, stole mail and checks. Gifts for my newborn. Homeless running through the building with a machete and trying to break into my unit. I had evicted residence, throwing pots of plants at my window and trash....

My husband and I were the first to move into the Glisan apartments. We have LOVED living here and recommend so much to live here! And we can't say ENOUGH about our property manager Logan! He is hands down the best and most kind, friendly and helpful person. We will miss him and our little cave!

If you choose to live here I highly recommend investing in a CHL. I was involved in an unauthorized unit entry where someone was misusing my key and leaving behind items in my apartment. The response I received was to ignore me for an immediate lock change and respond almost 3 days later wanting me to wait 2 more days, argue with me about being responsible for fees to break my lease, and request I hand them a copy of my key. This is a classic example of how you will be treated. Over the past two years they have violated my lease a handful of times and continued to disregard my safety by refusing to communicate and address the dozens of situations left to perpetuate over the course of my lease. I have never seen such a bottom feeding property management company that is as calculated as this group of people who specialize in creatively dodging litigation and their responsibility to their tenants. Remarkable, I hope every one of you sleep well at night knowing you put peoples lives at risk from the unethical decisions made. To the prospective tenant, good luck. You’re gonna need it.
