*Maintence experience*
I have lived in base housing for almost a year now. I just put in a work order today (January 9, 2020) for a few things. My disposal stopped working, leaking kitchen sink faucet, broken rail on a kitchen counter drawer, and front living room blinds. I did not know that the faucet was considered an emergency and someone had to come within 30 minutes.

Bill arrived and he was nice and friendly. He took care of the disposal and tightened the faucet and said he would come back to fix the drawer since they had a mandatory meeting. He came back after the meeting and I had to run some errands and I informed him that the faucet was still leaking. I came back home an hour later and I had a brand new kitchen faucet, brand new cordless blinds, and my kitchen drawer was fixed!

Bill left a nice note and I just wanted to express my appreciation to Bill for fixing my requests, especially in a timely manner. Great first experience having to do some work orders and Bill definitely exceeded my expectations. Thank you so much!

The absolute worst military housing i have ever lived in. From mice problems, to extremely high light bills… 0 out of 10, would not recommend.

This is was without a doubt the worst military housing we have ever lived in. The houses are made very cheap, and aren't insulated very well at all. We lived in a middle unit, and paid on average $170 for electricity a month. We moved off base into a 3 bedroom two story house and only paid $50 our first month. The yards aren't maintained very well, if they make a mistake they take their sweet time to fix it.. But if a resident has made a mistake, you better fix is ASAP or you will be charged a fine. After we moved out they continued to draft money from our account and we got a simple "Oops" from the ladies in the housing office. This messed up our money situation for the next few months and we had to live off of very little money due to their mistake. I wouldn't recommend moving into housing if you can find a place off base. You can find houses off base for much less rent a month, and in nice areas.

As the previous person stated there are a lot of rules and it seems that they don't apply to everyone. I reported illegal drug use in my neighbors home on several occasions and nothing was ever done about it. People seem to think living on base is a "safer" choice. The spouses and their teenagers are just as shady as people living in the "civilian world."

Worst housing I have ever seen or been in. Houses built less than 10 years ago and it feels like they were built longer ago. Terrible insulation (have fun paying electricity), management that can't seem to keep a pool running for any period of time (constantly down due to maint), houses are not energy efficient at all (extremely drafty windows which suck heat out during winter, thin walls, tall ceiling in "living room" area that lets heat escape the house easier and much more), no management of housing rules (big one being dog droppings all around), very cheap for repairs (needed new dishwasher and I received some cheap washer that can't even dry dishes). If you are higher rank and accept a lower ranking house you still pay the vast majority of your BAH for it. They have also harassed me multiple times about rent they say I have not payed, but have record of them taking my money. I could continue but some people are intimidated by long posts and don't read them. Last note being positive: their maintenance personnel are extremely polite and friendly.

Buckley Family housing failed to arrange an allotment for rent for the first two months my family lived on base, then did not notify us of the issue until several months later. The Utility allowance is only enough to cover the gas and electric if you turn off the A/C and use candles for light. Better buy some extra blankets for winter as well, the houses are built cheaply and have terrible insulation during the cold months. The staff is friendly on the surface but good luck getting anywhere with them.

I've lived here for four and a half years. The housing here isn't half bad. For the price, try finding a rental in this market, in a decent community, with the amenities offered for the size of house you get here. If you are looking to buy--You can pay less buying. If you are above E-6, you can probably use your BAH better. If you want a smaller house---you can pay less. But, if you are E-5 or below, I wish you luck finding a better rental of this size for the price you pay. The only issue I have had is the insulation---yes the electric bill gets a bit high if you want to have your house at 70 year round. Decently quick service most of the time. Nice enough office staff. I don't know where those who are saying it is "the worst military housing they have seen" lived, but I would be interested to see it. People complain. People feel entitled. These people need to go out on the private market. Worth the price considering what's available in surrounding areas.

Insulation isn't the best we had a 3b2.5bth house on Keystone. The kids room never heated properly but our room was always a heating nightmare. Utilities are higher than average we lived off base by Southlands and our utilities never got over $100 during the winter & it was the same house size. I would suggest getting thick curtains and led lights if you do decide to live here it might help but don't quote me on that. Just to put perspective we only own one TV and always turned off our lights in every room kept the heater at 67 during the winter 65 at night with many blankets and off for the summer. Dog poop almost any part of the community housing lawns, trails and sidewalks. Paint chips really easily my fire alarm goes off randomly as well. What could you expect it's a basic house with a luxury cost. Don't believe me if you go on FB groups you'll notice more sales of things when the bills are a bit high or bha/rent goes up (It's kinda of an unsaid thing) If you're moving here because of the community I can tell you right now it's not the best, there isn't much going on actually almost any event gets cancelled for weather reasons or they run out of supplies within 30min. Maintenance is okay just depends on the street you live on. The housing gym is not the greatest but the gym on base is a bit better. Dog park is a fence area and the community garden right next to it but it always smells of dog poop. I know there's a list to move on base and they do prioritize those pcsing here to Buckley but if you are living off base and move onto you'll be on there for months just remember there are other great places to live. The local public school for housing is Mosley which isn't the best after 4th grade or anything child who needs an IEP. During the summer sprinklers are constantly on even during raining days it floods the backyard and sometimes the street.

Maria and Denise were absolutely amazing through ot the process of getting a house on base! The houses are also on the newer side and we really like the layout. Only down side is houses don't already have a fence installed unless a previous tenant had one so if you have dogs and you want one you'll have to do it yourself or pay a company. Other than that you have access to the housing's pool and gym and you can't beat the commute for work.
