Accepted residency after the Covid "shelter in place" program ended. The building houses low income senior citizens and those who are on Social Security Disability due to physical/mental illness.
As some of the residents are mentally ill, occasionally you hear someone walking the hall talking to themselves or knocking on your door in the middle of the night. Although the staff try to keep the place clean, trash and dog feces are left in the hallways.
As it is located in the Tenderloin, the days and nights are noisy, though as police activity is common there is no lack of live street entertainment.
Better than the hell hole known as the Alder Hotel (175 6th Street) where I existed for 6 years and the "shelter in place" motels where the staff would use the master keys to enter your room and either allow their friends to overnight or use your belongings without your permission.

Partner Sarah moved in 2015 it took 5 1/2 years to make it to where I could be my partner live-in aid. The building had a background check done on me manager was cooking the books for her own personal gain and spent over 30,000 dollars to go to the Cayman Islands of everyone rent money her boyfriend at the time Richard the maitance man had and has keys to every door in the building and was looting things from everyone’s apartment.upon us moving to a better building after 10 years of management gave us a 30 day notice to get the rest of our stuff out,4days of us moving out the maitance man Richard emptied the room and put everything in the garbage.

Lots of memories here. Lived on the second floor back hallway next to the communal bathrooms and kitchen back in 1994 through 1996 when food stamps were actual books with paper denominations and you'd take it down Hyde St to Momma San who paid you .50ç on the dollar. Ran by the St Vincent DePaul Society then and accepted GA rent for $300.⁰⁰ a month. It was a drug free place but honestly, you can try to be but the TL is the TL, so I was one of those while there. It wasn't a horrible place to live. The neighborhood is rough for an 18 year old but I always looked like I belonged and for the most part, wasn't messed with. I had a long run with problems but the Arlington wasn't one of them. I pray for the people who have to live there.
