Already 3 times I've booked a room. The price is hard to beat relative to the location and suit quality. It's a lovely apartment in a lovely back bay style brownstone house, fully furnished with a kitchen. Sure, the bed could be in a better shape, and the floor could squeak less - but for the price this is a bargain.
The place is clean, management is quick to resolve any issues that might arise during the stay, they are friendly, and accommodating.

This is a review for one of the Boston Inn & Reservation's short-term apartment "hotel rooms." They own several properties, so my review only applies to the "studio apartment." First, the pros: It was in a fantastic location and it was relatively safe. There was a code to get in the front door, which made me feel good about being here alone. And it was clean and it was always easy to reach the staff if I had trouble. (They didn't always come through, but they always answered the phone.) Staying near Newbury Street was fantastic and the noise outside was standard city-noise -- a bit loud but nothing unusual.

Now, the cons: the website misrepresented how "updated" it was. The decor is old and faded, the furniture mismatched. There are no chairs or couches. The "stainless steel" kitchen is really a stainless steal stove & fridge. The so-called "stocked" kitchen comes with an old kitchen sponge and an out-of-date warped spatula. I had to buy pretty much everything, down to salt, to cook in the kitchen, which I was interested in doing (or I would've booked in a traditional hotel). The heater was broken -- in New England -- and they sent someone called "management" to fix it who looked at the box and said, "wow! no switch on your thermostat!" and then walked out, never to be seen again. So it was a chilly experience in many ways. I had to beg for new towels and sheets, three times, so be prepared to be completely on your own if you choose this place. Also, the studio, which brags about being the largest room, is big enough for about 1/2 a person. I can stand on one side of this room and almost touch the other side. When my husband joined me on the trip, neither one of us could stand in the kitchen or the bathroom at the same time. Don't even think about bringing kids; they'd have to sleep in the fake fireplace (which is just for decoration?) if you did.

Similar to Kacy (reviewer), I stayed in the studio near Newbury St.

Pros: Great location - that part was exceptional. The price was right, too ($200/night compared to others that were $400+). Easy to find, get into, and the reservation process was a snap.

The bathroom and towels were clean, though the tub drain didn't drain fast enough during my shower so I was standing in two inches of water the whole time.

Cons: As Kacy said, the place is, unfortunately, outdated. The kitchen is cute, but tiny and there are bar stools to sit on (which, after 20 minutes, hurt my bum!). The sponge by the sink was old and gross. The fridge worked and was clean, which I appreciated. There aren't shades on the windows, per se, just the old-fashioned wooden shutters, which were painted into whatever position the slats happened to be in. I didn't feel comfortable changing anywhere but the bathroom (with a closed door) for that reason.

The bed... well, it's a bed. The iron headboard wasn't attached to anything, so when I went to move the mattress out a little to check for bugs, it fell away from the wall toward me. Not a big deal (I could see what was happening), but the wall was all scratched up and made the place look worn.

The pillows needed to be replaced. I took pillow cases off (again, to check for any bugs/problems), and all but one were stained yellow (as old pillows tend to get). One even had red/brown stains on it. I put two pillow cases on the pillow I decided to use, and crossed my fingers. Lots of hairs (short, long and in-between) stuck to the mattress under the bottom sheet. The sheets, however, were clean. There was a worn-out (frayed) blanket over the sheets, and then a dark brown quilt. (I didn't use the quilt - just pushed it to the bottom of the bed.)

There wasn't an inside locking mechanism (like a chain) on the door, which felt a little dicey. Just the outer keypad entry. No issues thankfully.

Overall: It was a cost-effective place to stay for one night. I probably would not choose to stay there again, and would not have stayed more than one night in a row.
